Lady Marmalade + Julius Caesar Part I

On Saturday I met up with some of my girlfriends for brunch at Lady Marmalade on Queen St. in Leslieville in Toronto.
A brought her bubbly 16 month old daughter Jasmine (who you've met before from their family photo shoot last June!).  Jasmine is a favourite of mine to shoot, along with  Anokhi, another close friend's baby.  The two of them have been shot several times by me since they've been born; see them together here.  I've even photographed them before they were born, at A's baby shower and K's baby bump shoot)!  So it was a real treat to see Jasmine again and capture her cheery laugh and sweet disposition (can you believe she can hold a fork and feed herself on her own?)  After brunch, we went to see O in a performance of Julius Caesar at Kew Gardens.  Look for that in a Part II.  Since we're moving to Boston in a few months, these gatherings with my girlfriends are really important to me and I treasure them, as I do their friendships.  I shall miss you guys immensely.  (Pic of me holding Jasmine taken by A)

New Orleans

It's easy to overlook travel photographs when other destinations get in the way.  :) So, here are some more shots of N'awlins (from the Summer of '08!) that I never got around to posting!

Other N'awlins posts, here and here.

Meet the Hamiltons, again!

If you'll remember, we did this shoot in April and it's already August and baby B is expected to arrive any day now, so I thought I'd re-post this one in honour (and anticipation) of baby B! Can't wait to meet you, lil' one! :)

~~

We had a blast shooting with the Hamiltons this past Easter weekend! The first time we captured the family together, it was a Christmas  shoot and photohogger was just starting up!  We always love shooting the Hamiltons, especially Em who's a  ball of energy and a barrel of laughs. They're expecting their 2nd baby boy in August, so it was nice to get the whole family together for a happy spring shoot.  K,S&Em thanks for all your support! xoxo

White

Here's a variation of green and pink....

With a touch of white. And wrinkles.

Seen in Jaipur on the way to Amer Palace. I think chairs might be my next thing.

Eyes

It's been a while since I posted a portrait, so here's one from our ride into Jaipur.    This boy was riding in the auto rickshaw beside us and our vehicle wasn't able to align with them long enough for me to get a shot (rickshaws are able to meander their way more easily through narrow streets and between traffic).  I was pretty happy to finally get this one.

Aren't his eyes magnificent?

Danny Bhoy

Danny Bhoy was in Toronto on April 29th at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. He's quite the funny lad and he had new material and brought back a few of the classics! It was great to meet him after the show and get his latest DVD autographed.

Anokhi & Jasmine

Two of my closest friends K and A have been captured in their pregnancy stages by photohogger.

K's daughter Anokhi is 8 months old and full of energy, a complete joy to play with! Even at such a young age it's amazing to see the similarities she holds with her Mother:

A's daughter Jasmine is 2 months old and already displays the elegance of her Mother, complete with dainty fingers and an appreciation for gourmet meals.  Just look at how she holds onto the edge of the plate with her finger (while asleep!).

Engaged!

Tonight something memorable took place at the Panasonic Theatre in Toronto. A & M got engaged, on stage, in front of a full house for tonight's show of My Mother's Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding. M had the whole cast and crew in on the proposal and CityTV was invited to record the event. I was so pleased and proud to capture the special moment! Congratulations you guys!! Lots of love.

1 & 9

'Twas the nephew's 1st & niece's 9th birthday on May 17.
There was a magician, a donkey, gifts and cake
A bouncy castle, burgers and a pinata to shake
Lollies and candies and wrappers galore
Toy bats and balloons and don't you want more?
How 'bout ice cream and sprinkles and chocolate chips?
Don't you wish your birthdays were more like this?

Okay, so I'm no Dr. Seuss that's for certain, but I do like birthdays.  I suspect these guys do too.

Yogger

(I'll try not to incorporate the last few letters of Photohogger so much in my entry titles, but it's fun while it lasts, non?)

I recently did a yoga shoot for a friend who's starting out her yoga teaching practice.  She's wonderfully warm and easy-going so N and I had a lot of fun with her at the shoot which was at our home as well as at the Harbourfront Centre.

Aarti was looking for yoga photos that weren't conventional (ie. sun-set-silhouette-type shots) but more of something organic with interesting body shapes.   She was really open-minded and we ended up with some really beautiful moments as well as some super fun shots (like the one we got of her out on the skating rink in her beautiful lehenga - even though it was a bitterly cold day!!)

Here's a peek.

Meet the Hamiltons

We were happy to spend the day with the Hamiltons for this shoot.  It was family Xmas card time and let's just say three furry, red hats made an appearance!  Em is a familiar face in my portrait portfolio and it's clear to see why.  Isn't he the cutest?!

Glass Artist

Recently,  I did a photoshoot for Heather Konschuh, who is a talented glass artist working in Toronto.  Her glass pieces are abstract forms of art; a reflection of natural beauty.  One of the pieces that instantly caught my eye were her hand blown pendants which are at once bold and dainty; perfectly modeled by Heather here.
