Mango Tea

When we were in San Fran in March '08, we met up with a friend who was also in SF at the time, and visited a tea shop near Union Square.  We tasted selections of teas at this shop and ended up buying three bags.  One of them is the best mango tea we've ever had and since then it's been a tradition to meet up with this friend over tea.  We had such a "ceremony" this past weekend.

Trinidad

Today I'm thinking about relaxation and vacation. What better place to revisit than Trinidad and its hot sun, soft-sand beaches and Richard's Bake n' Shark sandwich.  Yum.

Boston: Markets

I love photographing markets.
The vegetables, the flowers, the lighting. It all reminds me of My Fair Lady.

Paris: McDonald's

Don't judge me.

We did it in India, so we had to do it Paris.

Eat at a McDonald's, that is.

And it was très magnifique!

Gotta love this guy who posed for the picture!

Oh we also had a Kronenbourg 1664 beer, but it wasn't cold enough.

Paris: Macarons

So, everyone, and I mean EVERYONE told us to visit Ladurée in Paris for their famous macarons! We found a little kiosk at the  Printemps department store. I was surprised that the lady didn't allow us to take any photographs of it, though.  Also, we decided to save them to eat in the Jardin du Luxembourg, but by then, they were smushed.  We liked the pistachio best. A couple of them tasted like soap. I wish everyone had told us which ones to order.

Papayas, pineapples and tomatoes!

The tomatoes on Kaua'i were unbelievably delicious! I can't even describe them. It's a taste that says tomato. Don't even get me started on the pineapples and papayas! We ate them everyday.

Kebabs and Petals

As we were walking around the Latin Quarter, we noticed many touristy restaurants, none of which looked that appealing.

THEN, we saw Amorino!
The famous gelato joint which was one of the must-dos on my list!

The line-up was huge, but the wait wasn't long until we had our very own giant cone with as many flavours as we wanted (that's right, as.many.flavours.as.you.want) arranged beautifully into a flower.

Ah.maz.ing.

Beerfest VI

It was the annual Beerfest at our house this weekend. Beerhogger has blogged about the two breweries we toured this year:  Cameron's Brewing Co., and Trafalgar Brewing Co. in Oakville.  Here are some shots from both breweries.

Trois

Some of the people-watching we did as we sat in the Carrousel Gardens.

Thought the dude with his helmet and the giant McDonald's bag was super cool. And I loved the striped bow and green shoes.

Croissants!

Our first taste of Paris was a butter croissant from the Boulangerie Patisserie Coudrier Geffroy on 77 Kleber Avenue on our way to check in at the hotel.  MMM!!

In addition to this, our hotel provided a croissant filled breakfast everyday! Plain butter and chocolate croissants, baquettes,  nutella, jams, coffee, tea, orange juice and fresh fruit; so we were always off to a good start.

Not to mention all the OTHER croissants had along the way :)

Fish

I love shop windows.

Here's the Fish Monger and the First Class Butcher on Clerk Street in Edinburgh.

Oh yeah, I tried haggis and have to admit, I'm not a fan. While it tasted fine...every "crunch" brought new and horrifying thoughts to mind :)

yolk

Found these in the Foodhogger archives, when we had a cooking demo from the executive chef of Spencer's, Chris Haworth.

Love the yellow of the yolk.

360

We had dinner at the CN Tower's 360 restaurant this past weekend. When we used to live across the street from the tower, we always marveled at it's structure and enjoyed seeing the LED colours changing at night.  And the 360 restaurant has a magnificent revolving view of Toronto and is more than 351 metres (1,151 ft) from the ground.   The food and wine were fantastic, as well.  (Foodhogger will have to get on that ;) )

I'm now further convinced that La Tour CN really is a wonderful architectural and engineering wonder of the world, in our city.

Berries

Most summers my niece comes to stay with us for a few weeks and one time we took her berry picking. I'd never been before, myself and had a wonderful time. Would love to go again. Which fresh fruit do you like to pick?
