Hello Molly: Cake Smash
Remember sweet baby Molly who we met last year? She just turned ONE!
To celebrate her big birthday, I thought a Cake Smash photo session would be a terrific idea. You get to eat your cake and smash it, too, right?
Little did we know, Molly doesn't like cake all that much....
Still, she was an absolute trooper and did an amazing job!

Vermont: Stowe Mountain Lodge
You know how you picture "skiing in the mountains" to be? Snow, skiis, hot chocolate, a log cabin, a fireplace and alpine sweaters?
That's exactly what Stowe Mountain Lodge is like! We even lucked out with maple taffy treats courtesy of Slopeside Syrup, scored a free gondola ride to the top and back, while having a great view of my hubby skiing down.
All in all a good ski weekend, I'd say!

Amsterdam: Market
Spent an afternoon walking around the Albert Cuyp Market, chock-full of vendors selling cheeses, seafood, shoes, clothing, and everything in between. I also love that they call it "maise", it's what I grew up calling "corn" in Africa.

Amsterdam: Edam
Have you heard of Edam Cheese? The one with the happy red coating?
It's named after the town of Edam (AY-dum), in the Netherlands. A picturesque village if I ever did see one. Absolutely charming canal houses and teahouses lined up against perfectly still water.
Our stop? The Cheese Weigh House, built in 1778, where a giant cheese market is held every summer. Here, Edam is coated in yellow wax as the red coating is only for export.
And as far as Edam, that was all there was to see but I was camera happy, all the same.
Merry Christmas, 2011!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed the holiday season! We were so happy to be able to go home to Toronto for the holidays. After moving to Boston in the summer, this was our first trip back, so it was really nice to catch up with family and friends and do not much of anything else. Except eat, of course. The following sums up our holiday fairly well. 
Amsterdam: Alan & Ginnie
Alan and Ginnie are our good friends from Toronto and we were so happy to see them again in Amsterdam in September.
I've introduced you to Alan before, in Stirling, Scotland, where we were hosted by Alan's parents at a glorious garden party.
In Amsterdam we, once again, enjoyed a few pints and saw some sights. Ginnie and I also visited some museums together and had many cups of tea.
Happy Birthday To Us
A and I celebrated our birthdays together again, this year. Last year we did the spa and dinner. This year we did it with strawberry picking at Springridge Farm (fantastic place btw!) followed by a picnic in the park. There was lots of sunshine, not so many strawberries, lots of laughs and a few tears. Thanks to N, who was the only boy at the party, for capturing all the fun moments of the girls!

It's JUNE folks, and it's finally WARM in Toronto (we won't count last night when it thunder showered and was chilly enough to warrant a spring coat, nope, let's forget about that). Today was the perfect day for a picnic in the park. Reminded me of when we did our book club meeting as a picnic in the park a few years ago. Time to do that, again.
