Eyes

It's been a while since I posted a portrait, so here's one from our ride into Jaipur.    This boy was riding in the auto rickshaw beside us and our vehicle wasn't able to align with them long enough for me to get a shot (rickshaws are able to meander their way more easily through narrow streets and between traffic).  I was pretty happy to finally get this one.

Monkeys

Monkeys are abundant in India, roaming freely around streets and temples; and sometimes used as entertainment in monkey shows.

This was a bit of a sad sight on Marine Drive in Bombay.



In Jaipur,  at the Jaigarh Fort, monkeys were simply hanging about in trees and walking along the tops of the palace walls.


They look cute, but apparently wreck havoc in the city. Read this story on the monkeys of Jaipur, it's quite alarming.  It can't be easy living with these creatures, but because monkeys are considered sacred, they cannot be harmed and are dealt with by monkey-catchers!

Samudrika Arora is a set designer working in Paris.  She just  wrapped up work on Clint Eastwood's Hereafter (release date set for December 2010) and was in Delhi the same time we were.

Her next venture will be on a Woody Allen film. We wish her the best of luck and can't wait to see her next, in Paris!
