Rooster I

Okay, can I just tell you about the ROOSTERS on Kauai?  The island is infested with them!  I use the word "infested" loosely because I totally fell in love with these guys, so much so that I haven't eaten chicken, since.

The history behind it, is that chickens, wild chickens and fighting cocks were brought to the island by early settlers and after the hurricane of '92, the distruction of the coops set the chickens free to roam the island.  They have since multiplied making them the Kings of the Roads (we even got t-shirts that say that) as there are no natural predators after them.

I miss the cock-a-doodling in the morning (and sometimes during the day and evening)!

Hawaii: Day & Night

Happy New Year! Wishing you all a happy, safe and healthy 2011!

2010 was a fun-filled year full of exciting events and travels! Here's to more of the same in 2011 for all of us!

Hawaii was amazing; it's such a beautiful place! Three years ago, we were on Oah'u and Maui and did a lot of the sites (Pearl Harbour, Haleakala, The Road to Hana, hiking up Diamond Head).  I'll have to post up some shots from the last trip, in fact.

This time we really just relaxed and enjoyed the our resorts on O'ahu and Kaua'i. And with Kaua'i being a very small island, it took us only a day and a half to drive around it. More of that later, but first, here are a few captures of the day and night views from our hotel in O'ahu.

I have to say, I'm loving my new baby, the Nikon D7000, but I'm still figuring it all out...it's an amazing camera but I feel like I haven't really had the opportunity to really utilize it as I didn't want to take it out on the beach or in the rain (yes, it rained quite a bit while we were there) so I ended up using our Canon PowerShot D10 Waterproof Camera as we were mostly in the water! It's a fantastic underwater camera and I'll post some shots from it, soon.

Flash

Then it was off to see the Eiffel Tower at night! We had a reservation (which we booked online at the hotel) for 9:30pm. We still only got into the elevator past 10pm though, since the reservation line-up was long (certainly not as long as it would have been had we not made reservations)!

Needless to say, it was spectacular, particularly when the lights began to flash and dance.

Lil’ Ol’ Ladies

As seen along the Seine and in the Latin Quarter.

I can't believe how doubled over that lil' lady is!

Notre Dame

How could we have missed going to see this magnificent cathedral? We were too late for the tour, but it was still magical.

Kebabs and Petals

As we were walking around the Latin Quarter, we noticed many touristy restaurants, none of which looked that appealing.

THEN, we saw Amorino!
The famous gelato joint which was one of the must-dos on my list!

The line-up was huge, but the wait wasn't long until we had our very own giant cone with as many flavours as we wanted (that's right, as.many.flavours.as.you.want) arranged beautifully into a flower.

Ah.maz.ing.

Bridges and Museums

Then it was a walk along the Seine and towards the Musée d'Orsay, which was simply gorgeous. No photography allowed, however :(

Water Lillies

Next, we went to Musée de l'Orangerie, to see Monet's Waterlillies and other impressionist/post impressionist work.

The Water Lillies were breathtaking, to say the least.

Suit

It was blazing hot and the white powdery sand had enveloped our shoes, but these three looked so polished.

Green chairs

Back to Paris, now!

Here are the famous green chairs in the Jardin des Tuileries.  We sat and relaxed in them for a bit there, and again, wherever we saw them :)

Beerfest VI

It was the annual Beerfest at our house this weekend. Beerhogger has blogged about the two breweries we toured this year:  Cameron's Brewing Co., and Trafalgar Brewing Co. in Oakville.  Here are some shots from both breweries.

S&A

S&A got married in India earlier this year, and we were able to attend one of the fabulous functions there. A couple of weeks ago, we were honoured to shoot their reception here, at home. S's sister gets huge props for putting together such a wonderful event from the gorgeous purple-coloured theme, down to the incredible performance she did for the bride and groom! What an amazing party! Thanks for having us, we had such a fantastic night, you guys! Lots of love!

Trois

Some of the people-watching we did as we sat in the Carrousel Gardens.

Thought the dude with his helmet and the giant McDonald's bag was super cool. And I loved the striped bow and green shoes.
