Husbandswear

My hubby wears suits and blazers to work every day and I can't help but think how dapper he looks each morning.  I decided to start chronicling his combos of shirts/blazers/ties.

Today he had on a Hugo Boss dress shirt and a tweed blazer from Tom's Place in Toronto.  We love Tom's Place; it's the best place to go whenever you need a suit or a tux for a big occasion and it's always tailored to fit perfectly.  (photos by photohogger)

Stylewatch has been saying the BIG-BOYFRIEND-BLAZER trend is over.  What do you think?  Would you sport the oversized blazer?

Don't forget to enter to win this gorgeous copper STARR CUFF ($40 value!) from Esma Studio!  Contest ends Monday October 17 at 5pmEST.

IIFA Toronto

There was glitz n' glam and a GREEN carpet.  It was IIFA (The International Indian Film Academy Awards, like Bollywood's Oscars) in Toronto.  Some of the Bollywood stars (Shah Rukh Khan) rocked the Green (why that shade of Green? So unflattering) carpet.  Others (Amisha Patel in her ugly yellow mini-dress), not so much.  (Images gettyimages)

Zooey is the NEW GIRL

Have you guys heard about this new show starting in the fall?  Zooey Deschanel is going to be playing Jessica Day as the NEW GIRL on Fox.  (All images via Pinterest)

I can. not. wait.  I am a huge ZOOOoooey fan.  What is not to love about her?  For one, she has THE most amazing BANGS and tresses, magnificent big blue eyes and how adorable was she with Joseph Gordon-Levitt in 500 Days of Summer?

I'm also excited that Damon Wayans Junior (that's right, son of funny man Damon Wayans) will be on the show, too.  We really enjoyed watching him on Happy Endings, which I've heard may be cancelled (why?! It was so funny!)

Here's what Zooey had to say about WOMEN in television and film (btw, have you all seen Bridesmaids, yet? I think it's the funniest film I've seen all year!):

"I think we're in a time right now where there was a tipping point [and] so many of the pilots that were picked up were female leads, female written.  Girls are kicking butt in comedy and [with] 'Bridesmaids' doing so well, I feel like this is a new frontier."

And here's a tribute to all things Zoooooeeeey!

BOOyonce!

At the Costume Institute's "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Beyonce and Jay-Z were booed for not stopping to pose for the paparazzi.

You'd think she would have practiced climbing up stairs before wearing something so tight.

What do you think of Beyonce's dress?

And here's the video. Those paps can be so rude.

BCBG + Libby

I went to the Petite Feet Sample Sale today, VIP day, and although I really wanted some colour block shoes, there wasn't a great selection of the summer/fall styles I've been eyeing online.  I did however, score myself a gorgeous pair of Libby Edelmans which are from her Fall 2011 collection, in a beautiful grey flannel with silver studs and a lovely silver heel. I adore the Tiffany blue colour and detailing inside the shoe. I also wanted a pair of shiny pumps for wedding season coming up this Spring/Summer, so I found a pair of cute open-toed BCBG pumps in a croc silver finish. Nothing like shopping at DSW, but not too shabby at $50 each, and I love that the Libby Edelman's won't be available until later this year.  It's always fun to see women carrying buckets FULL of shoes to the check-out counter...I did the same two years ago, but this year, I wasn't as impressed.

Gingham

The sun is finally peeking out a bit today, so I have my thoughts set on summer and picnics.  And gingham is perfect for summer picnics in the park.  Sure, you might blend in with the table cloth, but that's not a bad look, right? :)

This is my favourite colour, blue and white and how I'd wear it.

Anthropologie, $88

Other great ginghamy ideas:

Modcloth, no longer available, but so lovely!

Net-a-porter, J. Crew, $49

Gingham PANTS!  From Sessun, super cute on this girl, here.

House of Harlow

I really like Nicole Richie's line House of Harlow, especially some of the cute shoes, but most of it is out of my price range.  My sister was just telling me about this necklace she got a great deal on.  How pretty is this?

More HoH that I'm eyeing, but can't afford :)

Tsunami

I'm sure everyone is watching the news of the magnitude-8.9 earthquake and tsunami that hit the coast of Northern Japan and now has hit Kauai.

The images and video footage are unbelievable.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Japan.

Someecards

Y'all know Someecards, right? If not, they're hilarious e-cards you can send on those occasions where you can't find the words to say what you want to say.

In light of the Oscars, I found this one particularly humourous.  I wish they hadn't had Kirk Douglas hand out the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress; it was a cringe-worthy moment, didn't you think?
